Gladys Waters of Ontario, California peacefully passed away on July 16, 2023.

Gladys was born in born in Washington, D.C. to Peter and Ursal Stevenson. After high school she attended Hampton Institute (University) earning a BS degree in Sociology in 1946 and in 2000 earned an MS in Humanities and Social Service from  California State University Fullerton at 72 years of age. Over 35 years she worked at several Federal Government agencies ( NSA and Social Security) and 14 years with the San Bernardino Offices on Aging and Adult Services.

Gladys loved to travel, going to the theatre, and line-dancing, but her passions were knitting, crocheting and beading.  She was a lifetime member of NCNW and United Methodist church. Gladys was honored with various awards during her working life and recognized for her volunteer work with the Ontario Library.

Gladys is survived by her daughter Stephanie Banks, niece Andrea Scott (Garlando), and nephew Todd Johnson (Cheryl). She was predeceased by her parents, sister (Martilla)and stepbrother (Billy) and first husband Evans Banks.
As a gatherer of people, Gladys also leaves additional daughters, sons, and many friends near and far. She loved and was well loved in returned.
