It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alonzo Joe Gaytan Jr., who left us too soon. Alonzo Jr. was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, cherished by all who knew him.

Alonzo Jr., 41, was born in Visalia, California on October 25, 1982, to Alonzo Gaytan Sr. and Sally Gordon. Alonzo Jr. attended Crowley Elementary, Divisadero Middle School and Golden West High School. After high school, Alonzo Jr.  initially pursued a career in heating and air conditioning, but his true passion lay in the culinary arts.

Determined to follow his dreams, Alonzo Jr.  completed a culinary certificate program and began working at some of Visalia’s top restaurants. He showcased his talent and dedication at Mearle's and The Vintage Press, where his exceptional skills and warm personality left a lasting impression on colleagues and patrons alike.

Alonzo Jr. is survived by his mother and father; his sisters, Angela Gaytan and Marina Garnica; his Aunt Henrietta and Uncle Robert Ordonez; his Aunt Lorrine Martinez; his Uncle Carlos Guzman; his Aunt Carrie and Uncle Jerry Gaytan; and his Uncle Bobby Gordon. He was predeceased by his Grandpa Joe Gaytan, his Grandpa Herb Newman, his Aunt Anita Gaytan, his Uncle Ramiro Soliz, his grandmother Angie and his grandmother Deyetta Gaytan, who lovingly cared for him and cherished him deeply, playing a significant role in his life by providing unwavering support and affection. His family and many friends will miss his vibrant spirit, kindness, and the joy he brought into their lives.

His memory will forever remain in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at Visalia Public Cemetery on August 15, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. to celebrate Alonzo Jr. 's life and legacy.
