Michael Howard Rose

May 08, 1949 - July 25, 2024

Michael Rose (fondly known as Rosey) of Chicago, IL, died on July 25, 2024.

Michael was born on May 8, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. Later in life, Michael moved to Arizona and spent his final month surrounded by his family in Escondido, California.

Michael was a cherished father to his three children and their spouses: Jordan Rose and Sona Desai, Jeff Kulwin and Tobey Kramer, and Jennifer and Kris Rose. He was also a doting grandfather to Jet Rose, who brought him immense joy and laughter. Michael's love and care extended to all who knew him. Michael loved his friends like family and extended generosity and care to everyone he met. When asked what kind of life he lived, he replied, “ I lived the life of a good person.” Anyone who knew Michael would wholeheartedly agree.

Michael is survived by his sister, Sandy Levin, his nieces Stacy Nierenberg Rivera and Jamie Nierenberg, and numerous long-time dear friends and extended family, who will miss him dearly.

Michael was predeceased by his mother and father, Henrietta and Leo Rose, and his sister Barbara.

A celebration and honoring of Michael’s life will be held on October 27, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jeff and Tobey’s home at 2231 N. Oakley Ave, Chicago, IL. Click here for more information.

In place of flowers, the family requests donations be made to White German Shepherd Rescue. For those who knew Michael, Pete, his White German Shepherd, was his fourth child who brought him great joy and purpose. We hope our dad is now with Pete and surrounded by all the dogs he has loved and cared for.

The family extends its deep gratitude to Lily at Hospice of the North Coast and Lana and Amanda at Honor Health for the amazing care Michael received. We were in constant awe of the love each of these nurses gave to our dad and all of us during this difficult time.

Gigi Stein Jen, Jeff and Jordan, You were so blessed to have a Dad that stepped up to the challenge of raising 3 children on his own. He loved you unconditionally and did everything he could to make the transition possible. I am deeply sorry for your loss and hope his memories will bring you comfort. Love to all!
